150 One Piece cosplay works have been selected ahead of the final round of the “ONE PIECE COSPLAY KING GRAND PRIX” cosplay event held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the TV anime One Piece in 2019, in collaboration with the World Cosplay Summit Executive Committee (Chairperson: WCS Inc. CEO Tokumaru Oguri), which organizes the “World Cosplay Summit”.
The “ONE PIECE COSPLAY KING GRAND PRIX” is a cosplay contest featuring only characters that appear in One Piece. Submissions have been open from January 7 through March 30, 2019, on the “Cosplayers.Global” online platform.
Out of those who passed the online selection, a total of 20 persons including 9 characters from the Straw Hat Crew plus 11 other characters will participate in the “Final round” to be held at Oasis 21 (Nagoya city) on Saturday, August 3, 2019, during the celebration of the World Cosplay Summit 2019.
In the first selection, 150 entries have been selected from the more than 4000 entries submitted, taking into account the quality of the cosplay (costumes, wigs, make-up, degree of characterization, etc.) and the quantity of likes received by the pictures. 20 entries will be further selected out of these, in order to determine the participants at the final round.
